hi there! i am just starting dancing this year. i am 21... =[ which i know is too late to do anything significant with dance. though i dont really want to be professional or anything. maybe some small competitions later on would be fun, but more than anything i just love it because its one of the only times i actually feel beautiful. do you think yoga would help with dance flexibility and balance?
hey :) dance is significant not by the amount of turns or leaps you can do, but by how much it means to you <3
i’m glad it makes you feel beautiful- that is why i dance, too. its an amazing feeling and i’m glad you’ve found something as wonderful as dance <3
yoga definitely helps with flexibility and balance - it uses different muscles and helps you learn to control parts of your body you aren’t normally aware of. on top of all that, its very relaxing <3 you should try it! :)
I was accepted to the university of my dreams and I mainly wanted to go there for their dance program. I auditioned for their program and was put in fundamentals for ballet and modern. I just don't understand how. That means I wasn't even accepted into their program and have to take those classes to better myself and audition again next semester. I am a soloist at competitions and place in top 5 all the time. My dreams were crushed today & I just didn't think I sucked at dancing.
please don’t let this bring you down. i’m sure you are an absolutely amazing dancer <3 one thing you have to understand is that there is a big difference between a competition dancer and a professional dancer. not in technique - they can be equally talented. its just different. youtube rebecca hart. she didn’t get accepted to sytycd a couple of times, but she is an absolutely brilliant dancer. please dont give up. instead, let it push you. let it make you stronger. i believe in you<3 you definitely dont suck at dancing <3
Hello :) as I am on the phone app and can't see the links on your page, can you please tell me how to increase back flexibility and flexibility for straddle/box splits
turn out for straddle splits:
-Plies in second position (keep your knees turned out!)
-Butterfly stretch, have someone push you down, push your knees down, etc (this helps me SO much!)
-Try the froggy. All you do is lay on your stomach and put your legs in a butterfly like position behind you. Try pushing your legs out as far as you can, but don’t hurt yourself! You can also try rotating one foot at a time turning it in and out while staying if your froggy position.
-Go into a straddle/middle split, make sure your knees are turned out and feet pointed, and have someone gently push you down. KEEP YOUR KNEES TURNED OUT.
It might take you a minute to get the hang of it if you’ve never had a dance class before, but if you have you should pick up the moves quite easily. It covers stretches, workouts, and dancing. Just like a regular dance class. I would recommend that you do it in your living room or someplace with a lot of space.
Here’s a link to the first video if anyone’s interested
hi guys. i know i’ve been neglecting this blog, and i’m really sorry. things have been rough at home, and i was told in september i can’t go back to dance until further notice. it hit me really hard & i’ve been avoiding dance all together, and this blog only made things harder for me. the truth is, i miss dance so much, and i’ve felt so lost without it. either way, i’m back <3 thank you to my followers who didn’t unfollow throughout my disappearance. you’re all amazing :)
